Good morning from the end of the hall. Tea cooling on the sill out of habit, even though the window is closed, save a small fraction. Cat curled in my lap and set to ‘purr cycle,’ It feels like fall, within and without. The house is a wee bit cooler; Iong sleeves feel cozy; and the leaves are becoming more introspective, drawing inward once again, toward their source; The light too knows that the time for conservation has come. There will be days of bright fullness throughout the coming months—but it feels like nature saves up for those instead of spending so lavishly. There is an underlying equilibrium of bounty and frugality to autumn and winter—she absolutely understands how to make the most of her stores. She has what she needs…her security of necessaries… and she parses them out with judicious creativity and inherent wisdom to fulfill the perfectly calibrated matrix of needs: the nourishment necessary to maintain the elemental thrum of memory and generativity; and the sustenance that will be needed for a boldness of flourishing come spring once more.
