Have been thinking more and more about Grace lately…thinking more about it and experiencing it with and through people with whom I am close/familiar and with and through strangers. It is a beautiful awareness to walk with and something I want to share…
Grace
Grace is the
not insignificant
in-between, the
current that carries, the round-edged
rolling weight,
the quiet, oh blessing,
the quiet that is
full already and nourishing
when shared.
Grace is forward
moving and ever
attentive; the friend
who can shore you up,
call you out, take
your hand; Grace
feels more
like a kitchen
than a dining room.
She’s Have you eaten?
Get glasses out, would you?
Thanks—no, it’s okay—
Please, sit where there’s room.
She is a sigh before a meal
and a reflection of tomorrow.
She is the best kind of company
who knows a joke, a story, a
metaphor, a question,
that lifts my head, has me
notice her radiant subtleties,
and know that walking with her
is an adventure I do not want to miss.
Kimberly M. King
Lovely, Kim.
