Advent I, 2017

Advent I 2017

You are born
at the change of seasons
when textures and contrasts shift;
on the horizon at daybreak
and in the star-riddled heavens
shot through with cosmic grace;
You are born
in the ache and elation
of love’s fullness;
in the cry for dignity,
the work of justice,
the broad silence
of contemplation.
You are born
when we notice
ordinary glory
and stop
where we are
in a moment of divine wonder.
