I heard a sermon yesterday about the baptism of Jesus and found myself steeping in the physicality of it as she spoke…Throughout the day, as I tended to the various and sundry, words kept surfacing and then dipping back down…only to take another breath some moments later…I let them swim until the end of the day when I sat in the kitchen and let them out upon the page because it felt like they needed more room…and I wanted to see what they became.
Baptism
The tactility, physicality,
the senses, the water,
the voice, the hands,
the rush, the under,
the wrapped, enveloped,
held, buoyed, and sustained,

all in, together with,
inseparable from,
earthy, Everlasting,
embrace that is
all in all and all of all,
form fitting wide Love
that is Word taking shape,
made in God’s image and likeness,
Word that is
welcome home to yourself,
your wholeness;
I am here; we
are always, are
always.
